Farrell started Lollapalooza in 1991. Over the festival’s eight year run, hundreds of influential acts graced its two stages including Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Verve, The Verve, Mercury Rev, Alice In Chains, Rage Against The Machine, Royal Trux, The Breeders, Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, Guided By Voices, Stereolaband Hole. Lollapalooza’s history was also intertwined with awareness promotion – booths were set up during the event to educate patrons on a variety of issues. In addition to alternative fuel booths Farrell says will be on the tour this year, Audioslave’s Tom Morello said Axis of Justice will feature heavily. "There will definitely be an Axis of Justice installation at Lollapalooza and it will be the biggest one that we’ve had on tour so far, he said. "I think that’s what really separates Lollapalooza from any other tours that are going out this summer - it’s the incredible music, it’s the ideas contained in the concert and it’s the community it builds among bands among fans. It’s unlike anything else going out for the last five years. It’s certainly not like anything else going on this summer and we’re really proud to be a part of it." The festival line up will stop in 28 stateside cities during July and August of this year, though at press time, official dates had yet to be confirmed.
